Horns of Summer

Horns of Summer!
Mondays - June 5 through August 28, 2017,
 7:00 pm, Falcon Heights Church
1795 Holton Street, Saint Paul

Horn players of all ages and levels meet almost every Monday evening in the summer to read through new and familiar material for large & small horn ensembles and to prepare for upcoming "gigs!"  Join us!

Come once or twice, or come every week.

Participate in one of our public performances or just enjoy reading through the music.  It's up to you!

All you have to do is bring a music stand and your horn.  Friendly "regulars" will greet you and help you decide where to sit.

We meet at the Falcon Heights Church, 1795 Holton Street, just a few blocks north of the Minnesota State Fair, from 7 to 9 p.m.

This summer we'll spend a lot of time preparing for our September 10 concert.  Our Artistic Director, Herb Winslow, writes:

This should be an exciting Horns of Summer at the TCHC! The theme for the September concert will be "Celebrating Horn Ensembles!" We will be playing old, familiar favorites like the Titanic Fantasy (London Horn Sound) and new works that are hot off the presses in response to our composition competition. Other music will be from the Wiener Horn Verein, Baltimore Horn Club, LA Horn Club, etc. This not only pays homage to the horn players that went before us, but shows that horn clubs continue to thrive and create new music for the next generation. Join us as we celebrate the legacy we are creating!

But if you can't play the September 10 concert, don't worry!  We'll play other fun music this summer, and prepare for our command performance at the August 21 St. Paul Saints game, and might break into smaller groups for part of the evening some weeks. Although reading sessions and rehearsals might be a little more formal than usual, we still want to hang out with you. So please do come!

We are thrilled to have Herb Winslow, Associate Principal Horn of the Minnesota Orchestra, as our Musical Director again this year.

You can find more details on our Upcoming Events page.  Upcoming Events

Some folks like to hang around to socialize after our rehearsal, so this summer we’re making it official!  The room will be available until 9:30, so please, feel free to linger!  And if you’d like to bring some munchies to share, we won’t stop you!
